Health disclaimer
The calculators and guides on this site give general information and estimates for healthy adults aged 19 and over. They are not medical advice, they are not personal advice for you, and they do not replace a doctor or an accredited practising dietitian.
What the numbers are
Every result is an estimate from a published formula applied to what you entered. Real needs vary from person to person. Results are starting points, not targets and not promises of any outcome.
Who should not use them
- Anyone under 19.
- Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Anyone with a medical condition that affects weight, energy, fluids, sleep or diet, such as diabetes, kidney or heart disease.
- Anyone who has or has had an eating disorder, or who is worried about their relationship with food. Please talk to a doctor or call a support service instead.
Safe limits we apply
Calorie results never go below 1,200 kcal a day for women or 1,500 kcal a day for men. Deficits are limited to 300 or 550 kcal a day. We do not offer rapid weight loss, supplement advice or medical dietary plans.
When to see a doctor
See a doctor before you change your diet or exercise in a big way, if you are unwell or worried about your health, or if you sleep badly for weeks, are always tired, or are concerned about your weight.
Emergencies and support
If you are in danger or need urgent help, call 000 in Australia or your local emergency number. For eating concerns, contact your doctor or a recognised support service.
